POSITION OVERVIEW
The Marketing Coordinator is a creative, detail oriented individual who supports the execution of all marketing initiatives for the New Orleans Film Festival, NOFS Gala, and all NOFS events in the lead up to the New Orleans Film Festival, playing a key role in amplifying the Festival’s visibility and branding. This role assists in the development and distribution of campaigns, advertising, communication, printed assets and digital promotions. Must be a strong communicator and multitasker who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about arts and culture. This position is within the organization’s Development Department reporting directly to the Development Manager.
TIMELINE FOR THE POSITION
July through November. The schedule for this position is flexible as long as the Festival deadlines are met. Reporting expectations will be weekly and we may invite you to training and other meetings, as necessary.
Must be fully available during scheduled events. (October 21-27).
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
- Executes comprehensive Festival, Gala, and pre-festival events marketing plan and initiatives as directed by Development Manager and Development Director, maintaining consistent branding and voice across all communication channels.
- Supports the creation and distribution of email newsletters, maintaining formatting and copy accuracy, in collaboration with other departments.
- Works closely with the Festival marketing staff including the Social Media Coordinator and the Design and Graphics Coordinator.
- Coordinates with on-site Photographers / Videographers including creating shot-lists and schedules.
- Responsible for collaborating with the Development department to ensure that acknowledgment and visibility for sponsors, donors, and members are accurately and appropriately represented benefits across communications channels.
- Tracks marketing deadlines and deliverables, ensuring assets are produced and approved on schedule.
- Regularly updates and maintains the Festival website content, ensuring accurate event listings, graphics and sponsor information, as directed by needs from the Development Director and Manager.
- Works with the Design and Graphics Coordinator on creating logos, branding assets, templates and style guides for internal and external use.
- Coordinates the production and distribution of printed materials, such as step-and-repeat, flyers, signage and ads, working with designers, printers and vendors.
- Proofreads all printed materials, providing timelines and guidelines for other departments to contribute, and account for sponsor approval.
- Creates logo loop slides and any title cards with provided design templates.
- Partners with local paid and/or in-kind media partners around advertising, promotions and video production of live events, creates media kits, and writes copy for radio ads.
- Serve as liaison with our PR representative to promote the New Orleans Film Festival (NOFF) via press releases and publish all relevant press on our platforms
- Develop pre-festival content and marketing strategy for pre-NOFF events to leverage NOFF awareness and sales.
- Manage the press accreditation process for NOFF.
- Works with hired photographers and videographers to cover the live events, ensuring on-time delivery of festival media (photos and video) with timely editing and posting of media across all communication platforms.
- Provides any on-site marketing support during the Festival.
- Track website traffic, social media engagement, and media impressions, and prepare reports as requested for data entry needs.
- Coordinate with Board Marketing Committee and Board Gala Committee to implement marketing strategy and gala needs
- Any other marketing duties if assigned.
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE + QUALIFICATIONS
- Alignment to the organization’s stated mission and values.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong grasp of grammar, tone, and brand voice.
- Experience with email marketing platforms such as Mailchimp & Hootsuite.
- Strong design skills using tools like Canva, Adobe Creative Suite (especially InDesign and Photoshop), or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with WordPress
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, X/Twitter, TikTok, LinkedIn).
- Comfort with data tracking and analytics, including social metrics, newsletter performance, and ad reach.
- Experience in live event or festival environments, especially with fast turnarounds and public-facing content.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and communicate clearly with designers, copywriters, and press/partnership teams.
- Availability to work extended hours and weekends during the festival period.
- A passion for film, the arts, or nonprofit work is highly valued.
- Must be able to travel to in-person events in New Orleans and work nights and weekends during scheduled festivals and events.
COMPENSATION
This is a contract position, with a total compensation amount of $9,000.00 to be paid out in semimonthly installments over the duration of the contract.
This is a temporary independent contractor position and does not offer benefits. The earnings are subject to Self-Employment Tax and no deductions will be made from your checks. This job is not eligible for any cost reimbursements related to the contracted work. You will be issued an IRS Form 1099.
LOCATION
New Orleans Film Society staff work on a hybrid schedule, with some time in the office and some working remotely. The individual filling this position needs to be New Orleans-based because they need to be on the ground during NOFF and any other pre-festival in-person events/training/site visits.
